How to Double Your Revenue

July 12, 20130 Comments

I want to tell you about a true American success story…born from noticing the obvious. Recently at a Denny’s Franchise Owner’s meeting I met a young man named Glenn Beattie. Glenn scraped together enough money to buy a Denny’s restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. He wasn’t afraid he’d lose money because he had noticed something obvious that the previous owner had ignored. The restaurant was located in a largely Hispanic neighborhood but the restaurant didn’t have any Spanish-speaking servers. Patrons had to point at the pictures on the menu to order what they wanted!

So when Glenn took over he immediately hired a bilingual staff…and doubled the revenue from $1 million to $2 million in under a year. Today, Glenn owns almost 40 Denny’s restaurants. He also has two basic rules for his managers. #1 Be nice. #2 Say YES! Glenn told me about a customer who came in with an IHOP coupon to get pancakes for $2.99. Glenn immediately said, “YES!” because his logic was that IHOP had paid to bring a customer to HIS door. If you want to capitalize on your market, notice the obvious. Have the courage to leverage into basic logic…and you might just get rich. Minimally, you will increase your revenue and grow your business!
