Best Reason to Know Your Dogs

September 14, 20120 Comments

How do you develop an emotional connection with your customers? You say Hello. You ask their name. You show interest, right? But be accurate…or your ignorance will show. I’ll give you an example of something that happened to me at a major Pet Store chain. I have a 110 Bernese Mountain Dog named Buster. So I need to buy big bags of dog food. I go into the Big Store, I buy a giant bag of food and the clerk says, “Oh big dog huh..what kind of dog do you have?” I say, I’ve got a Bernese Mountain Dog. He says, “WOW, I love those dogs…what color is he?” That was his big blunder. Bernese Mountain Dogs only come in ONE COLOR COMBINATION. Black, Tan, and Orange. It’s good to show interest in people…but if you are going to comment about something they own….you’d better know your facts. This is Ross Shafer for The Relevant Report.
