Do you get frustrated when you have to go to one of the big-box home improvement stores for parts to fix your home? Oh, they have what you need — but you’re usually on your own finding it. Good news! a couple of the major players –  Lowe’s and Home Depot, know this has been a problem and are starting to fix it. Home Depot has invested in attentive builder-types who know how to find anything in their vast store… and can teach you how to fix things yourself. Lowe’s has gone even further. Lowes’ installed Wi-Fi and gave their employees smartphones. So, when you’re trying to describe “that thing” you saw on Pinterest, the Lowes employee can pull it up on their phone and make sure you get what you want. The results? In a sluggish housing economy, quarterly sales are up at Lowes and Home Depot over last year – Lowe’s is up 14%! Share prices are up, too – Home Depot’s are up 75% over the past year. Have a comment?
