Why Hold Expensive Meetings?

Hi Ross Shafer for the Relevant Report and I am in the Bahamas…Nassau…Paradise Island….and that is the Atlantis hotel in the background. So why would I be reporting from here? I’ll tell you why. Just a few years ago it was unheard of for an organization or company to hold a meeting at an expensive, exotic resort like this. Why? Because it looked too ostentatious – too much like you were showing off. But times have changed. Think carefully about where you want to hold your meetings – because the impression you project means a lot to your employees, their families, your suppliers, or any user groups you are trying to impress. Want to get people talking about the meeting? Take a look at what there is to do here. Kids can’t believe they are in a water slide surrounded by sharks. Spouses (men and women) love the high-end shopping. And who doesn’t want to be able to tell their friends they saw an eight-foot Manta Ray? See the point is, if you try to make it more of a memorable experience for your attendees, go a little upscale. Also, upscale doesn’t have to be expensive. Many resorts offer great packages to host your meeting. So, give them a W Hotel experience. Give them a Hard Rock Hotel experience. Or, give them an exotic destination resort experience like this one. If you try to save money by going “cheap,” your attendees will remember you in all the WRONG WAYS. This is Ross Shafer having a great time….looking for my scuba instructor.
